Feeding Program l Racing Pigeons l Health l Mount Moreland Lofts

The feeding program at the Mount Moreland lofts is put in place to ensure the good health of the racing pigeons. As all fanciers of the sport know, the healthier and more fit your racing pigeons are, the better they fare at the races.
In order to succeed in pigeon racing it is critical that your feeding program includes proper nutrition.

As part of the feeding program, it is important that the racing pigeons be fed the same grain after a training toss. This prevents the early arrivals from eating the sunflower and corn, and leaving just the peas for the birds that come in later. This prevents those racing pigeons that come in late, from progressing.
A common mistake made with the feeding program of racing pigeons, is that fanciers often provide them with the best food available. As is only natural, people consider the best feed as being the highest priced feed which often contains a lot of peas. By including excess peas in your feeding program you are providing the racing pigeons with too much protein which does not bode well for them.

The racing pigeons at Mount Moreland lofts, have a strict feeding program as selected by Mark Raubenheimer.
He is a fancier most concerned about the health of his birds and can be quoted as saying, “A handful of mielies is not going to work Cuzzie”.

Mark ensures that his feeding program is on the cutting edge of racing pigeon feeding and conditioning and hand selects both imported and local feed.
Some of the products are imported from as far afield as Europe and China.

An apt adage for the feeding program of racing pigeons is, “He who masters the art of feeding – masters the art of racing”. This is why pigeon fanciers the world over spend so much time and effort in perfecting their feeding program. The competition is fierce and it's the survival of the fittest.
