de Klak | Racing Pigeons | Mark Raubenheimer | Mount Moreland Lofts

The de Klak racing pigeons that are housed in Mark Raubenheimer’s Mount Moreland lofts are of a classy pedigree.
Named after the fancier who bred them, Jos van Limpt-de Klak, these racing pigeons are great champions. Hailing from a the small village of Reusel, de Klak was a fancier who achieved great performances right until his death.
Jos de Klak was a man completely devoted to his pigeons, who concerned himself with their health first and foremost. He lived by a philosophy of always striving to do ones best in any conduct of sport.
Born and raised with pigeon racing, de Klak took followed in the footsteps of his beloved father, who was one of the first people to experiment with racing pigeons, before the Second World War.

de Klak’s father was able to get the very best racing pigeons by working at the very same cigar factory as Arjaan Janssen.
de Klak had to start his own racing pigeon collection from scratch, as keeping pigeons was outlawed during the Second World War.

It was de Klak’s mother who encouraged him to seek the help of the Janssen brothers, and because of his interaction with them, he never wanted any other racing pigeons beside theirs.

de Klak’s greatest passion was using his racing pigeons for medium distance flights and did not show much interest in any other types of races. His creation of a type of racing pigeon for medium distances was unmatched.

de Klak’s motto was: work with a good pedigree, eliminate inbreeding, race a lot and select strictly.

When asked on how he came upon de Klak racing pigeons, Mark Raubenheimer had this to say,” After my trip to Belgium, I was introduced to a man from Holland by the name of Arjan van Diest. His father was the manger of the lofts for Jos van Limpt, who goes by the name of de Klak. Due to de Klak suffering from deteriorating health, van Diest starting managing the birds. After the passing of de Klak, van Diest took the birds to his own house and continued his work with the best. It is through my relationship with van Diest’s son that I acquired these phenomenal Janssen based birds, the de Klaks”.
